These terms govern your use of the OSI website and the services offered through it, including membership applications, conference registration, and access to Society publications. By using the site you accept them.
Membership
Membership of the Optical Society of India is granted at the discretion of the Executive Council in accordance with the Society’s constitution. Submitting an application or paying dues does not by itself confer membership; applications are placed before the Council and you will be notified of the outcome. Members are expected to uphold the scientific and ethical standards of the Society.
- Applicants must provide accurate information and valid supporting documents.
- Student membership requires a certificate from the head of the department or institution.
- Corporate membership is held by the organisation, with a nominated representative.
- Membership is not transferable.
Fees, dues, and refunds
Membership subscriptions and conference fees are as published on this website and are payable in advance. Fees once paid are not refundable, except where a payment has been made in duplicate or an event is cancelled by OSI, in which case the amount is refunded to the originating account within thirty working days. Annual members whose dues lapse cease to receive the Journal of Optics until dues are cleared.
Journal of Optics
The Journal of Optics is published by the Optical Society of India and co-published with Springer Nature. Submission, peer review, and copyright are governed by the journal’s own editorial policies on the publisher’s platform. Member access to the journal is personal and may not be shared, resold, or used for systematic downloading.
Conferences and symposia
Registration for a symposium is confirmed only on receipt of the applicable fee. Abstract acceptance rests with the technical programme committee. OSI may alter the programme, venue, or dates where circumstances require, and will inform registered delegates promptly. Delegates are responsible for their own travel, visas, and accommodation unless expressly stated otherwise.
Use of this website
You agree not to attempt unauthorised access to member records or administrative areas, not to disrupt the service, and not to extract data by automated means. Login credentials issued to you are personal and must be kept confidential; notify the office immediately if you believe they have been compromised.
Intellectual property
The OSI name, emblem, website content, photographs, and publications are the property of the Optical Society of India or its licensors. You may quote or reproduce short extracts with attribution for academic and non-commercial purposes. Any other reproduction, including commercial use of the emblem, requires written permission from the General Secretary.
Third-party links
The site links to chapters, related organisations, publishers, and conference hosts for convenience. OSI does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content or their handling of your data.
Liability
The website and its content are provided in good faith and without warranty of uninterrupted availability or freedom from error. OSI is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Kolkata, West Bengal.
